backyard thin web

there’s a spider trying to spin a web on my back porch door. the web is old; the spider is trying to reuse it. but it’s above the handle of the door, not near the hinge, and the spider shakes when i open the door. its legs are beautiful—all 8 moving like some schonenberg symphony, colored like some cronenberg masterpiece. but spiders can’t hum to themselves. while i’ve never seen so much articulation with so many limbs, the web is disjointed, the spider appears to have an erratic demeanor. but it’s just that door that keeps swinging open, unaware of how it effects the spider’s dinners, it’s silk production, its chances of survival.
