Sara Hyléen, an executive with Tobii Technology, told Digits that the application uses a combination of infrared light, a high-frequency optical sensor, and proprietary mathematical algorithms to pin-point the exact spot on a computer screen that users are looking at. She added that “it also can calculate in 3D the exact position of the eye, so it doesn’t matter if you’re moving around or not.”’
